What is a Ministry?

Introduction To The Ministries

A Ministry is a collective executive.  It is  responsible for providing public service in a specialized field of government, led by a senior public servant known as “minister”. The verb ‘minister’ is from a Latin word meaning “to serve”. The noun ‘minister’ refers to one who provides a service as  an agent of a higher authority. Ministries afford or give things needed by the people to help sustain an acceptable quality of life in the society they serve.  They are the practical means through which every member of the society receives freedom, justice and equality in his or her daily life and their existence insures a cohesive, flourishing society that improves and advances,  generation after generation, toward the ultimate goal of complete freedom, justice and equality for all persons, regardless of creed or class or color.

Serving Our People: Freedom, Justice, & Equality

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan called for the development of the 9 Ministries during the Millions More Movement, the 10th anniversary of the Million Man March, which took place on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., October 15, 2005.

"...A new day is dawning in America and the world, starting with the unity of “the dry bones in the valley. This is more than a moment in time, for no matter how many people who came, if there is a million or less or more, the meaning of this day is not today; the meaning of this day will be determined by what we do tomorrow to create a real movement among our people. The time has never been more ripe for a strategic relationship between the Black, Brown, Native American and the poor of this nation and the world."
